Welcome, I am Liz J. Andersen, D.V.M., a science fiction writer who likes to write about people and animals from other planets. I began before I became a veterinarian, in high school, during summer vacations, sometimes in a tree house. Meanwhile along came a very influential high school sf English teacher, Mr. Norton Horace Warner, who introduced me to Alexei Panshin’s Rite of Passage. I suddenly learned science fiction could include girls! Andre Norton’s sf taught me to include animals we both loved so much. I met and was awed by Vonda MacIntyre. Obviously we both loved pockets! Girls our age never got enough! As you might guess, I misspent my veterinary career writing about the adventures of Tajen Jesmuhr, who escaped a huge miserable orphanage. She decided to become what I always wanted to be, an interplanetary veterinarian. Her tough schooling included exciting externships on other worlds. Then of course she graduated and became an interplanetary veterinarian on an exploratory ship. Read all about her adventures in my novels, available in paperbacks and ebooks in major online bookstores! While you're here, take a look at my gallery. Star Trek did influence me to write about multiracial characters, and you can see my art inspired by it. If you'd like a copy of all those illustrations published in a paperback, send me $100 and I'll send you a copy of that book postage and handling free!
